The Secret Of Crickley Hall is a great two-hander of a drama that unfortunately has to succumb to some tropes of logic in order to keep things chugging along, but by virtue of a talented cast and understated direction, it manages to be both utterly compelling and edge of seat tense come the finale. They still rely on excellent acting and writing to carry the show, instead of special effects doing the entire job...so much more entertaining. But Eve Caleigh feels a connection with her lost son at the house. More a or less a 3 hour movie with a intermission every hour.

The English have it all over us when it comes to TV and film adaptations. In doing so, the low-level psychic connection that Eve and Cam shared comes to life again; she senses his voice say, “Mummy, I’m not dead”. When wanting to unnerve the audience it favours subtlety over scene-chewing terror, but in the dramatic moments, it also allows strength of character to shine through. I thought that it was a good adaption overall - the best and most chilling episode being the first one, in my opinion.
