With no field experience, Bruce and Lloyd must learn how to get a girl and infiltrate the Maraguayan Embassy to prevent Maraguay from selling the cloak to KAOS. But they discover that it was stolen by a beautiful woman named Isabella, working for her country, Maraguay. The performances are all there,but crucially it is lacking that bit of spit and polish to make it a decent film. There are a few twists and some good laughs. There are some extremely funny parts and overall it isn't too bad but at just over 60 minutes was too short. Now, Bruce and Lloyd must find the cloak on their own because the only non-compromised agents, Agent 99 and Agent 86 (Max Smart), are in Russia. The film's DVD sales have passed 100,000 copies with $2.2 million gross.[1]. As a straight to DVD outing for the two geeky gadget guys from 2008's 'Get Smart' it makes for an amiable enough 68 minutes. Bruce and Lloyd have been testing out an invisibility cloak, but during a party, Maraguayan agent Isabella steals it for El Presidente. The movie is based around Bruce and Lloyd (funnily enough since they are in the title) who are the two tech guys from Get Smart who came up with all the spy tools. Directed by Gil Junger. Bruce and Lloyd: Out of Control is a spin off of the Get Smart movie featuring Steve Carell. It is a spin-off of the 2008 film Get Smart and was released in North America on July 1, 2008, 11 days after the parent film began its theatrical run.
And I'm including the end credits in that. If the scenes are, "funny," enough to go in the end credits why the heck are't they IN the movie? There's a reason those actors and characters aren't the leads, and the same goes for this movie.
Although, I think you'd be hard pressed calling it a, "movie," considering the run time is listed as 72 minutes when, in fact, the actual movie itself barely lasts an hour (another way it's like a TV episode) with the end credits being stretched out ever.... so.... slowly and various average outtakes and scenes not actually in the movie, but obviously intended to be, spliced into them. Nate Torrence, who was so good in Studio 60 and Mr Sunshine is great as Bruce, and most of the big laughs come from him.
The plot stands up (just) and works both as a stand alone film or when linked in with the main 'Get Smart' film. The best thing in it is Larry Miller, who has the best lines in the film (which might be damning him with faint praise but at least they made me laugh).

The main issue is that this film feels like a straight to DVD outing or worse a short mini film before the real one gets started.
