With glowing reviews in magazines such as Blender and Entertainment Weekly, Loretta Lynn’s latest album, Van Lear Rose, is fulfilling her prediction. However, this album is surprisingly good--White manages to bring out Loretta's hillbilly roots in a very authentic, captivating way on some songs; on other cuts, it's more like Loretta singing on a Jack White record, and both sound damn good.

Word worked its way back to Lynn, and soon she invited Jack and Meg White down to her home and, not long after that, she agreed to cut a new album with Jack as the producer, which wound up being 2004's Van Lear Rose. On paper, this sounds like a strange pairing, yet upon further inspection, it makes sense. They’re releasing a deluxe edition vinyl reissue of her 2004 Jack White-produced album Van Lear Rose, a 7″ featuring two White Stripes covers of Lynn’s songs, and a whole lot more. When White finishes with his guitar heroics, he joins the band, the Do Whaters, on stage. Now, Jack White has done the same for Loretta Lynn, another country legend whose music is simply too raw and honest for the contemporary country crowd. Video features 70-year-old singer and 29-year-old producer playfully kissing and snuggling. During the lap-steel guitar solo, the couple are holding hands in a booth against the wall.

In a collaborative effort with Jack White of the White Stripes, who produced and arranged the album, she brings forth a five star delivery. The clip, directed by Sophie Mueller (Maroon 5, Coldplay), plays up the May-December side of their relationship, as the 29-year-old White and the 70-year-old Lynn make googley eyes at each other throughout the clip. The group performs as scenes of the song's namesake city are intercut throughout the barroom performance.

And to top it all off, toward the end of the clip, White even gives the great-grandmother some sugar with a kiss on the lips! When White steps up to the mic to take his verse, "In a booth in the corner with the lights down low/ I was moving in fast, she was taking it slow," he punctuates the last line with a knowing wink.

For the last line, the couple sing in unison, "Hey bartender, before you go, pour us one more drink," then pause just long enough to steal a quick kiss before ending with "and a pitcher to go.". During her session work with producer Jack White of the rock duo, the White Stripes, Lynn would hold his hand and say, “This is really gonna shake ’em up.” Loretta Lynn continues to develop and deliver groundbreaking music. When White returns the stare of a pretty woman looking his way, Lynn's quick to slap her man back into place. A smiling Lynn, meanwhile, is eyeing him from the bar, as a nervous-looking White returns her gaze.

Shot in Memphis, Tennessee, in July, the video opens with White playing the song's guitar intro while leaning up against the wall of a down-home honky-tonk. VAN LEAR ROSE is no exception.
