Remote Learning for K-12 Students Following the success of Wingspan Arts’ virtual programming in the spring and summer, Wingspan Arts is launching a new arts enrichment program: Arts Online. While our site staff is more than happy to answer homework questions, Wingspan is not an academic program. Every program also has Site Assistants and Assistant Teaching Artists, who help supervise the guided play and structured activities before and after enrichment classes, and provide support during classes, too! In response to COVID-19, we transitioned our residencies to distance learning, and we are excited to continue to partner with schools remotely for the 2020-21 school year. Each Wingspan Arts class is working toward a final presentation, performance or gallery—some presentation of the skills they have been acquiring and mastering throughout the semester. The Afterschool Enrichment program (grades K-5) features 2 classes daily from 3:00-4:00pm EST, Monday – Friday, with each day specializing in a different artistic discipline. The Club Wingspan afterschool model has been developed and refined over the years, and although programs may look similar on the outside, they are tailored specifically to each school community. Classes are split between grades K-1 and 2-5 for targeted, standards-based curriculum appropriate for each age range. All the shows I have participated in have been amazing.
